What is SmartStart?
Are you tired of carrying around another clunky remote control on your keyring, or finding yourself out of range when you really need to pre warm your car in the winter up or cool down your car in the summer before getting in? Now you can remote start or lock and unlock your car just by pushing a button on your iPhone iPad or iPod Touch; Blackberry or Android device using the popular SmartStart app from Directed Electronics, the leader in vehicle security and remote start.
The simple graphical interface gives you control over the following features of your installed remote start or security/remote start system:
Lock/arm
Unlock/disarm
Remote car starter
Trunk release
Panic or car finder
You can also control multiple vehicles – great for families! – and assign more than one user to control a vehicle. It's easy with SmartStart! 

****NOTE****Most newer vehicles from 1998 and up with electronic security chips embeded in the key, a security light on the dash panel or that have any other form of in-vehicle factory security will require an optional module to interface with the vehicles computer and security system. Options

Option EV: (European Vehicle) Saab, Audi, Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Jaguar, Volvo (Contact Custom Radio for additional information and pricing options on European Vehicles prior to placing order)

Option MT: (Manual Transmission) If your Vehicle is equiped with Manual Transmission select this option. Contact Custom Radio for additional information prior to placing order.

Option AG: (Anti Grind Module) Prevents vehicles starter from engaging if key is accidently turned to starting position while in the remote start mode. Includes all parts and labor to install

Option RD: (Rear Defrost Module) Activates the vehicles rear defroster when car is in remote start mode. Only turns on when temperatures are below 35 degrees. Rear defrost automatically turns off after 15 minute on time.

Option HS: (Heated Seat Module) Activates the vehicles heated seat circuit while in the remote start mode. Only turns on when temperatures are below 35 degrees.

Option PS: (Power Sliding Door Module) Select Mini Vans with power sliding doors can have this feature retained and added to function from the key chain remote.

Option AL: (Alarm System Add-on Module) Basic alarm system includes siren and/or horn activation, and shock sensor for vehicle impact or glass breakage.
